Stocks to buy for the short term: Stock market benchmarks ended in the red on Monday as sentiment remained weak ahead of fresh US sanctions on Iran. Oil prices, despite some easing, stayed above $92 per barrel, weighing on sentiment.

The US has increased economic pressure on Iran and its trading partners in a bid to force the resumption of energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran, on the other hand, warned that Washington’s new sanctions on Tehran, announced Monday, will not bring peace to the region.

Oil prices remain up, and the US-Iran stalemate continues, keeping the stock market sentiment weak.

According to Vishnu Kant Upadhyay of Master Capital Services, near-term volatility may remain elevated, but sustained support above the trendline and 55-day EMA would keep the underlying trend intact.

“The index continues to trade above its ascending trendline and has taken support from its 55-day EMA, keeping the broader technical structure positive. On the lower side, the 24000 mark will act as an immediate support or buying zone, while on the higher side, the 24320 mark will act as the nearest resistance,” said Upadhyay.

Stock picks for the short term

Vishnu Kant Upadhyay of Master Capital Services and Hitesh Tailor of Choice Broking recommend the following six stocks to buy for the next 1-2 weeks.

Expert: Vishnu Kant Upadhyay, AVP- Research at Master Capital Services

Punjab National Bank (PNB) | Previous close: ₹115.86 | Target prices: ₹123 and ₹125 | Stop loss: ₹109

According to Upadhyay, PNB continues to maintain its bullish structure after sustaining above the recent breakout zone, indicating strong buying interest.

The stock is currently trading around its 21-day EMA, which is acting as an important near-term support.

The formation of higher highs and higher lows further confirms the prevailing uptrend and reflects improving price momentum.

“PNB continues to trade above its key long-term EMAs, keeping the broader trend firmly positive. As long as the stock sustains above its short-term moving averages, the current momentum is likely to remain intact,” said Upadhyay.

Brigade Enterprises | Previous close: ₹654.10 | Target prices: ₹715 and ₹730 | Stop loss: ₹605

Upadhyay pointed out that Brigade Enterprises has given a strong breakout from an ascending triangle pattern, signalling a clear improvement in price structure and buying momentum.

The stock is consistently forming higher highs and higher lows, reflecting a sustained bullish trend.

Post-breakout, the stock has seen strong momentum and continued follow-through, indicating healthy buyer participation.

The stock is also trading comfortably above its key short-term and long-term EMAs, keeping the broader trend positive.

Rising volumes alongside the breakout further strengthen the setup and provide confirmation.

Prestige Estates Projects | Previous close: ₹1,635.80 | Target prices: ₹1,750 and ₹1,785 | Stop loss: ₹1,550

Upadhyay said Prestige Estates is showing a positive technical setup after breaking out of a flag-and-pole formation to the upside, signalling renewed buying interest and improving momentum.

The stock has taken strong support from its key 55-day EMA, which continues to act as an important cushion for the broader trend.

The breakout from the consolidation pattern indicates that buyers are gaining control after a period of digestion.

Momentum indicators are also turning favourable, with the MACD moving into positive territory and supporting the bullish view.

Expert: Hitesh Tailor, Technical Research Analyst at Choice Broking

NMDC | Previous close: ₹85.90 | Target price: ₹92 | Stop loss: ₹82.50

Tailor said NMDC has formed a bullish reversal off its 200 EMA support, completing a consolidation breakout on the daily chart.

The price action has decisively reclaimed its 20, 50, and 100 EMAs, signalling an end to the corrective phase and renewed short-term strength.

The RSI (14) has crossed above its signal line and the 50 threshold, reaching 54.73, indicating strengthening upward momentum.

“Supported by consistent accumulation near base levels, the technical setup points toward continued upside. Maintain a stop loss at ₹82.50 for a target of ₹92,” said Tailor.

V-Mart Retail | Previous close: ₹856.55 | Target price: ₹940 | Stop loss: ₹810

According to Tailor, V-Mart Retail is displaying strong bullish momentum on the daily chart after breaking out of a prolonged consolidation.

The price action has steadily climbed and is comfortably above all major moving averages, with the 20, 50, 100, and 200 EMAs aligned in a positive sequence, confirming an ongoing uptrend.

The RSI stands at 69.20, trending higher near the bullish zone and signalling robust buying pressure with continued strength.

“Given the solid trend continuation structure, further upside remains favourable. Maintain a stop loss at ₹810 for a target of ₹940,” said Tailor.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals | Previous close: ₹2,390.70 | Target price: ₹2,600 | Stop loss: ₹2,250

According to Tailor, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals is exhibiting a fresh bullish breakout after decisively moving above its symmetrical triangle formation on the daily chart, signalling the end of its multi-week consolidation and a positive shift in price structure.

The stock has reclaimed and sustained above key short- and medium-term EMAs, reinforcing the improving trend alignment.

Meanwhile, RSI at 63.94 remains comfortably above the 50 midpoint, reflecting strengthening buying momentum and scope for further upside.

“The overall setup favours continuation of the uptrend, with fresh buying considered around ₹2,390. The downside risk can be managed with a stop loss at ₹2,250, while ₹2,600 remains the potential upside objective,” said Tailor.
