The prices of gold and silver continuining the recovery from the historic selloff from the past couple of days on Thursday. The prices of silver rose to Rs 2.71 lakh per kg, while gold rose marginally to Rs 1.53 lakh per 10 grams, according to the India Bullions website.

Spot gold rose as much as 1.2% in early trade, recovering part of the steep losses seen over the past two sessions after its sharp drop. By Wednesday’s close, the metal was still down about 11% from its Jan. 29 record high, yet it remained roughly 15% higher for the year. Silver gained as well, pushing above the $90‑per‑ounce mark.

Strong global cues and a softer US dollar boosted demand for precious metals, helping prices rebound sharply after last week’s heavy sell-off, traders noted.

Data from the All India Sarafa Association showed that silver jumped by Rs 14,300, or about 5.03%, bringing its price to Rs 2,98,300 per kilogram (including all applicable taxes).

Precious metals surged last month, driven by speculative trading, rising geopolitical tensions, and renewed worries about the Federal Reserve’s autonomy. But that powerful rally abruptly reversed late last week, with silver suffering its largest one‑day decline on record and gold experiencing its steepest fall since 2013. The pullback followed repeated cautions from analysts who warned that prices had risen too far, too fast.
