Gold prices drop again: The prices of the yellow metal dropped on India’s Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Monday, October 27, amid a strong dollar and expectations of easing trade tensions between the US and China.

On Monday, October 27, MCX Gold December futures dropped 0.78% to ₹1,22,490 per 10 grams at 9:32 am, while MCX Silver December contracts fell 1.07% to ₹1,45,898 per kg.
According to data on the Indian Bullion Association (IBA), 24-carat gold was priced at ₹1,22,590/10 gm at 9:40 am on October 27, and 22-carat gold was priced at ₹1,12,374/10 gms. Silver prices today are at ₹1.46,380/kg (Silver 999 Fine).
How has gold performed over the years?
In the last 20 years, gold prices have surged by an impressive 1,200% from ₹7,638 in 2005 to over ₹1,25,000 in 2025 (till September), and delivered positive returns in 16 of these years. Year-to-date (YTD), gold prices have risen 56%, with consistent record highs solidifying its position among 2025’s top-performing asset classes and a reliable hedge.
