HDFC Bank share price LIVE: Shares of HDFC Bank, India’s largest private lender, declined as much as 8% to hit a 52-week low of ₹772, and wiping off over ₹1 lakh crore from market cap on March 19, following the sudden resignation of its part-time Chairman, Atanu Chakraborty, late Wednesday. Chakraborty cited concerns over “values and ethics” in his resignation letter. Investor sentiment weakened overnight itself as HDFC Bank ADRs tumbled 7%.
In the interim, the company has appointed Keki Mistry as part-time chairman, who, in the conference call with investors today, said that there is no power tussle at the bank and that the board is not aware of the specific issues mentioned by Chakraborty.
