Job Hunt Starts With Good CV: Five AI Prompts That You Must Know

Competition for jobs in India has reached new highs in 2026. It comes not only from fresh graduates but also from seasoned professionals seeking new roles. In this crowded field, a CV often determines whether a candidate progresses or is filtered out early.

Most companies use Applicant Tracking Systems to filter applications. A poorly formatted or generic CV gets rejected before any human sees it.

However, jobseekers no longer need to rely solely on costly professional services to create a CV. Artificial intelligence tools can significantly enhance a CV by aligning it with specific roles, embedding relevant keywords and clearly showcasing measurable achievements, all of which improve visibility within automated screening systems.

That said, AI is not a magic solution. The quality of its output depends heavily on the instructions provided. To help candidates sharpen their applications, here are five AI prompts designed to make CVs stand out in 2026.

Recruiters value data over descriptions. For example, instead of saying you “improved sales,” you need to say you “boosted revenue by 22%.”

Prompt: “I held the position of [job title] at [organisation], where my responsibilities included [key activities]. Using industry benchmarks for this role, suggest five credible performance indicators that could be used to measure my contribution, such as efficiency gains, cost savings or growth outcomes.”

Most large companies use ATS to filter resumes. If your CV doesn’t mirror the job description, a human might never see it.

Prompt: “Act as a CV specialist with experience in creating ATS-compliant applications for the Indian hiring market. I am applying for the position of [job title]. The complete job description is provided below, followed by my current CV details. Rewrite my professional summary, work experience and skills to reflect the role, ensuring key terms from the description are integrated naturally.”

Use this to create a concise professional summary that grabs attention in seconds.

Prompt: “Act as a top Indian recruiter for [specific role, e.g., software engineer]. Write a 4-line professional summary for my CV based on my experience: [paste 3-5 key achievements, e.g., ‘Led a team of 5 to develop an app with 10,000 downloads’]. Include keywords from this job description: [paste JD]. Make it ATS-friendly, confident, and tailored for Indian MNCs.”

If you have any gaps in your career for any reason, this prompt can help you explain them professionally.

Prompt: “As an HR expert in India, rewrite my CV to professionally handle this employment gap from [dates]: [explain briefly, e.g., ‘pursued certifications in data science’]. Suggest 2-3 freelance/volunteer entries or skills gained. Integrate into work history: [paste relevant section]. Keep it positive and concise.”

This prompt helps you tailor your resume for specific roles and companies.

Prompt: “Act as a career coach who has placed candidates in [target company]. I want to tailor my CV for their [exact role]. Here is the job description: [paste JD]. Here are my current CV sections: [paste summary + experience]. Rewrite the entire relevant parts to align perfectly with leadership principles / company-specific expectations.”

Your job hunt does not start with sending applications. It starts with building a CV that clearly communicates value in seconds. For jobseekers facing intense competition, smart use of AI can level the playing field: but only if the prompts are right.
