Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pros are expected to launch earlier than previously thought. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, the next MacBook Pros featuring M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are slated for release during the macOS 26.3 cycle, which spans February through March.

“I’m told the new models — code-named J714 and J716 — are slated for the macOS 26.3 software cycle, which runs from February through March,” wrote Gurman.
While this aligns with some earlier leaks about the macOS 26.3 timeframe, it signals an imminent debut for the new MacBook Pros. macOS 26.3 is currently in beta and could roll out to the public in the coming weeks — most likely in February. Historically, Apple has tied spring product releases to the x.4 updates (often late March or April), so an appearance alongside 26.3 would mark an earlier-than-usual release.
Adding to the signs of an approaching launch, there are “extreme shortages” of the higher-end M4 Pro and M4 Max MacBook Pro at retail stores and online inventory, Gurman said, a pattern typically seen before the Cupertino major introduces new models.
No official release date from Apple is out yet, but the evidence points towards a debut sometime in February. Gurman also noted low supply of the Studio Display, hinting at a possible refresh there as well.
MacBook Pros: What’s New
The MacBook Pro update appears to be a relatively straightforward, focusing on the new chips: M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. No major redesign of the device is expected. Apple is rumoured to introduce redesigned MacBook Pros — reportedly with thinner designs and OLED displays — around October or later in 2026.
