Second placed Gujarat Giants will take on third-placed Mumbai Indians in the penultimate league stage match of the 2026 Women’s Premier League tonight in Vadodara.  While Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already secured a place in this season’s final, the remaining four teams  are still competing for two playoff spots in the last two league matches.

Both Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians head into tonight’s game on the back of victories in their previous fixtures. While Gujarat Giants notched a narrow 3-run victory over Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians beat RCB by 15 runs.

Sophie Devine’s all-round skills have been the backbone for the Giants this season. The New Zealander has scored 212 runs and picked 15 wickets. She is her team’s leading run-scorer as well as the top wicket taker.  Captain Ashleigh Gardner has been in fine form with the bat as well, amassing 198 runs so far. Wicketkeeper opener Beth Mooney has amassed 191 runs.  Bowling remains an area of concern for Gujarat Giants. Beyond Devine, no other bowler has managed to pick 10 wickets this season.  Rajeshwari Gayakwad has 9 wickets, Renuka Singh has picked 7 scalps and Gardner has only 5 wickets.

With 319 runs and 260 runs, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur are this year’s highest and third-highest run scorers in the league. It highlights how much Mumbai Indians depend on these two batters when it comes to batting. Amelia Kerr has led the bowling attack with distinction, claiming 12 wickets so far. Australian all-rounder Nicola Carey with 7 wickets and 149 runs has been a good addition to the side. Like Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians too don’t boast of many wicket-taking bowlers in their ranks.

It is upon the bowlers to set up a win for their sides and help secure a playoff spot.
